This is our pure gourmet single-origin vanilla extract hand-crafted with double the vanilla beans for a 2x strength. Hand-crafted in Colorado with vanilla beans direct from Uganda. Unique to our company, we put a gourmet bean inside every bottle for continued aging and flavor of the vanilla. Vanilla can be a corrupt industry. We believe in empowering and employing our team in Ugandan. We pay a fair wage to hand select and cure all of the vanilla and have it sent directly to us in Colorado. We believe in pure vanilla, so no artificial ingredients, sugars or additives. This is true bean-to-bottle vanilla.

The Sweetest Bean Story

Circa 2005, a Colorado girl ventured to Uganda in hopes of finding her great story—an award-winning film. Along this journey, she discovered something even better when she met a group of street kids who changed her life—forever. So, to her great surprise, she just moved in with them—for seven years—starting businesses to sustain their education and their dreams. From taxi cabs to farming to a radio show, the community of kids grew up and needed employment to sustain their future. Thus, in 2014, the vanilla vision was realized.

The Sweetest Bean is based in Colorado and sources all its organic, whole-bean, Ugandan vanilla from the same community near Kampala. We’re the international buyers with the sole purpose of building an economy on the other side of the world that will continue to be run by Ugandans and employ more Ugandans. International buyers know that when they source their product, the local people work slave-labor wages (under $1/day) while everyone else eats beautiful pastries in the developed world.

The Sweetest Bean wants nothing to do with a spice trade that keeps poor workers poor while the buyers flourish. When you purchase the world’s favorite flavor from The Sweetest Bean, you are also buying into the fight against oppression. Therefore, we commit to one-single-supplier, their workers, their children, their futures, with the hope of true sustainable economic growth and . . . Love. The Sweetest Bean has been a vision long-coming. Our little vanilla company is co-owned by two life-long friends ~ Laura & Shana ~ who grew up down the street from each other and have since enjoyed partnering on projects and business ventures for decades. From the film & music industry to charity fundraising, through it all, they’ve always had their sites on using their talents to fight injustice and love people.
